COVID-19 Illness Guidelines

Staying home when ill is one of the best ways to reduce the spread of all illnesses, including COVID-19.

Individuals with a temperature of 100.4 or higher should always stay home until fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.  If your child has 1 major symptom or 2 minor symptoms; please do not bring them to the gym.  We will be sending them home as well and should consult a healthcare provider.

  • If the individual receives an alternative diagnosis by a licensed medical healthcare provider, they will be asked to provide documentation to the gym and can return when they are fever free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication and symptoms have improved.

  • If the individual receives and provides proof of a negative COVID-19 test result, they can return to the gym when symptoms have improved and the individual is fever-free for 24 hours without fever-reducing medication.

  • If the individual does not receive an evaluation by a licensed medical healthcare provider or a negative test result, they will be instructed to self-isolate for 10 days.

Symptomatic individuals awaiting COVID-19 test results SHOULD NOT come to the gym until they receive results of the test.

Covid 19 Positive Case/Isolation Guidelines

Individuals who test positive for COVID-19 will be instructed to self-isolate for 5 calendar days following the onset of symptoms OR 5 calendar days following the date the positive test was administered if the individual is asymptomatic. (Day 0 is the first day of symptoms or the date the positive test was administered if asymptomatic.)

Individuals may return to the gym after the 5 calendar days if ALL THREE of the following are true:

  • The individual’s symptoms are resolving or the individual continues to have no symptoms if asymptomatic

  • The individual continues to wear a mask around others for an additional 5 calendar days

  • The individual is fever free for 24 hours (one full day) without fever-reducing medication.

If all three of the requirements above are not met, an individual needs to isolate for the full 10 calendar days.

The guidance above will be provided to individuals who test positive for COVID-19 when they are contacted by the Dubuque County Health Department/Visiting Nurse Association (VNA) for contact tracing.

During the contact tracing process, the VNA will also give guidance for identified unvaccinated, household close contacts that their quarantine period will also be 5 calendar days with wearing a mask around others for an additional 5 calendar days.

Exposure and Quarantine Guidelines

Fully Vaccinated: All gymnasts and staff who are fully vaccinated against COVID-19 DO NOT need to quarantine if exposed to an individual who tests positive for COVID-19, unless they begin to experience COVID-19 symptoms. Individuals should continue to monitor for symptoms and contact their healthcare provider if symptoms develop.

Unvaccinated: Unvaccinated household contacts to a positive COVID-19 case should self-quarantine for 5 days from the last exposure. After that continue to wear a mask around others for 5 additional days.  Test on day 5 if possible.

Unvaccinated non-household close contacts: should continue to monitor for symptoms for 10 days following the last exposure. The decision to quarantine will be at parent/guardian discretion.

Previous Positives: An individual who has had COVID-19 within the previous three months, has recovered, and remains asymptomatic, does not need to quarantine if they are a close contact to a positive case.

Any individual who tests positive for COVID-19 should follow the appropriate isolation protocol for positive cases.

1. Proper attire: Boys: t-shirts (tucked in) and shorts. Girls: leotard or shirt tucked into shorts, hair should be pulled back in a ponytail, if possible. Please no baggy shirts, jewelry, buttoned shorts or socks.

2. No gum allowed in facility.

3. Students are NOT allowed on the floor or on any equipment in the main gym or pre-school area until their designated coach begins instruction at the scheduled class time.

4. Parents are responsible for their children before and after class. If you will be late to pick up your child for an unexpected reason, please call the gym to let the staff know you are running late. Coaches will not be able to supervise your child before or after class.

5. Any child 6 years and younger, please have them escorted into the building to help check into a class and get settled before class starts. For safety reasons, we ask that all kids wait inside the building after class is over while waiting for a parent or guardian to pick them up. Thank you so much for your cooperation!
